Electrolysis

Electrolysis hair removal is the only medically approved form of permanent hair removal, as supported by the BMA, FDA and AAA.  Electrolysis is a course of treatment that permanently removes hair growth when performed by a registered, skilled and experienced electrolysist.  No matter who you are, electrolysis permanent hair removal is for you.  I use a Sterex SX-B Blend Epilator.

I belong to the British Institute & Association of Electrolysis.

This is the only professional body in the UK solely for electrolysis.  There is a strict entrance theory and practical exam and continual professional development is a requirement each year to stay a member.

There are 3 methods of electrolysis to choose from in order to tailor to your skin type and reaction, and all 3 types are capable of permamently removing hair. They are:

       * Galvanic

       * Blend

       * Thermolysis (also called diathermy or RF diathermy)

People seeking permanent hair removal often do so for either medical or health reasons.

Some reasons include:

Menopause

Hirsutism

PCOS

Electrolysis appointments can last from 15 minutes up to 45 minutes, depending on the areas needing treatment and client comfort.

A thorough consultation is needed before any treatment can be carried out, this is to assess the hair type and the health of the client and to make sure there's no underling health problems causing hair growth.  Please be aware, if needed, a GP referral may be required to carry out any electrolysis.

Electrolysis is not a 'quick fix' but it is a permanent outcome.  Some areas may take 12 - 18 months to clear the hair growth, but once this is done maintenance appointments will be much shorter and much less frequently needed.

After treatment, there can be slight swelling in the treated area, redness and sometimes very small raised bumps but this will heal after 48 hours.  Aftercare is given so you know the best way to look after your skin at home.
