2024 was a really busy year for me.
I'm a big believer in Continual Professional Development (CPD).
At any age, with any qualifications and all levels. It's an important part of keeping going and moving forward.
I have spent the past 2 years refining my electrolysis technique. I belong to the British Institiute and Association of Electrolysis. This is the only professional body in the UK for electrolysis and advanced electrolysis. A requirement of keeping your yearly membership, you must have a certain amount of CPD per year.
I attended a day CPD training workshop with the brilliant Geri Panayotova who is a master in her craft. She writes the protocol for the Welsh government on electrolysis.
I have completed 5 webinars on electrolysis with the very knowlegeable Joanie Gonella and Stephanice Shields in the USA.
February saw me train with the fantastic Joanne Serrant who delivers the most amazing facial massages and masterclass. Her Skin & Soul technique is wonderful and one of my most popular facials using massage. It literally melts away lines and wrinkles and really gets the skin working from within to get the blood flow going which makes your skin look so healthy. It's like natural botox!
Keeping up to date with a charity called SKcin. They provide an educational accrediation programme called Masced which helps you notice any suspicious skin blemishes and although we are not allowed to diganose, we can certainly advise clients to go and get something checked with their doctor if it looks suspicious.
In June, I attended the PCDS (Primary Care Dermatology Society) Series 1 - Essential Dermatology in London. This helped to develop core dermatology skills focusing on skin lesions, acne, itch and inflammatory skin problems.
I also trained in Dermalogica Nanoinfusion. This is a great treatment for deep exfoliation using the pro pen but not as invasive as a microneedling treatment as it doesn't penetrate the skin. If you're wanting a deep exfoliation but not ready for a deeper treatment, this one is definately for you.
I've also taken on the Map My Mole checker. Dr Toby Nelson a top UK dermatologist created this to make it easier for people to get their blemishes and moles checked quickly and by a dermatologist. After a consultation, I take medical photographs using a dermascope which get sent off to a lab in the UK. If a concerning mole is imaged, the dermatologist will inform the patient providing them with a report that can be sent to their GP to speed up any referral.
All in all, 2024 was busy but really fun. I LOVE learning and love sharing with my clients.
Best wishes,
Kath xx
