Ever think 'Which one do I choose?' 'What's for my skin?' or do you just wing it and hope for the best?
It's a confusing market out there, with so many products for sale, all claiming they'll give you wonder skin.
But what are AHA's and BHA's?
They're acids that give great results by exfoliating. They're a chemical exfoliant rather than a physical exfoliant.
Think Pac Man chomping away at your dead skin cells, rather than Wile Coyote hacking away at your skin leaving it red raw!
The three main types of acids are:
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) - great for ageing skin
Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) - helps get rid of blemishes, spots or acne. It's like magic!
Polyhydroxy Acids (PHA) - if you've sensitive skin but want benefits of an acid choose this
Glycolic Acid is an AHA, great for age 30 or over i.e. ageing skin
Lactic Acid is an AHA, great for dull, dehydrated skin.
Salicylic Acid is a BHA, if you suffer with spots or acne, this is your saviour in a bottle!
Gluconolactone Acid is a PHA, if you have sensitive skin, this ones for you.
Hyaluronic Acid does not exfoliate but it maintains skin hydration, so great for dehydrated skins.
Now, go forth and buy a good acid suitable for your skin. If you need help choosing, just give me a shout. I love talking all things skin! xx
